Approximately how much cellulose fibre is added to the mixture of SMA?

Typically, by weight, 0.3 - 0.5% of CellPave™ cellulose fibre is added during the manufacturing process, depending on the manufacturer's specifications.

Can materials other than cellulose fibre be added to SMA?

Cellulose fibre is accepted as the most economical and the most effective as a binder stabilizer. However, other fibres such as rock wool or glass fibre can also be added to SMA.

Where can Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) be applied?

SMA can be used in numerous applications. Examples include: highly trafficked roads, highways, roads used frequently by heavy trucks, bridges, intersections, gradients, airport runways, parking lots, industrial sites and loading bays.

How long has SMA been in use?

SMA was developed in Europe in the 1960s as a solution for the damage done by studded tires to roadways. It was shown to be both very durable and resistant to rutting and deformation.
